Rescue Me ID: 16-12-09-00087Merlin (male)

Tibetan Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

It got scarily close to Merlin's euthanasia time in a dismal Kansas shelter. It was definitely through no fault of his own..it's all a matter of space. He came in at a very crowded time (but then again..all times are very crowded) and was therefore given a very short window in which to be rescued. After a scramble by our very compassionate Kansas rescuer (she has a soft spot for a really cute fuzzy guy with a great temperament!), was pulled out of the shelter at the last second possible. His rescuer and shelter workers haven't stopped raving about this adorable and engaging guy ever since. Merlin, at approximately 2.5 - 3 years old and ... (Read More)15 lbs is the perfect size to take along just about anywhere. He is such a perfect candidate to find his forever home in Colorado - he's a natural-born walker or hiker with the energy and enthusiasm to accompany his favorite person on any path. We envision Merlin with an active family with dog-loving, respectful kids or retirees who enjoy spending their time with a comical fuzzy guy He would be a very family-oriented pup if given the chance...adventures, vacations or just hanging out at home would speak to the nature of this guy. A fun time would be exploring dog-friendly spots or time spent socializing with gentle canines and their dog-loving families. At the end of the day...there would be nothing better for Merlin than to snuggle down with his family of humans and canines..he is unknown with cats. Merlin can be counted on to be a truly positive addition to any home. He is a low-maintenance guy whose joy at being part of a committed family would know no bounds. Merlin would shine in positive reinforcement group obedience classes since his desire to please is so strong...and it would create that special bond that exists between a trained, respectful dog and his people. After passing his temperament tests and vetting with flying colors, Merlin is being reminded of his basic house skills. His rescuer has described him as a lovebug and a sweetpea...can we possibly say more? They did say that Merlin may need a day or so after his long transport to Boulder to be his happy and very loving self again. Merlin is in need of a sudsy bath and a great brushing'|. he will emerge with an amazing tricolor coat that over time will speak of cottony softness and good health. Merlin will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his lovely coat healthy, shining and matt-free. While we've requested that Merlin be neutered prior to his transport, we're not optimistic that this will occur. If it doesn't..Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Merlin's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Merlin will be arriving on transport in Denver on Tuesday 12/13/16. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Rescue Me ID: 16-11-22-00005Franny-PENDING! (female)

Tibetan Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

It's hard to imagine this truly beautiful Schnauzer/Terrier in a high-kill shelter in Houston. A compassionate Farfel's rescuer saved Franny's life and nursed her body and spirit back to joy and well-being. Franny is such a sweet dog with a smile on her face...except that is, when she's in a high-kill shelter fighting for her life. Franny's shelter photo is awful! She's a gorgeous girl and that photo in no way comes close to doing her justice. We'll update with a photo that captures the beauty of this lovely dog. Franny loves treats, belly rubs, and car rides. She will walk right beside you on- leash and hardly barks at all. She is ... (Read More)initially slightly shy of men, but warms up very quickly. Franny loves to run and play outside, plus she is a great hiker! she has exactly the appropriate amount of energy for a 9 - 12 month old, 18 lb healthy pup. Franny would do well with a family who is home a lot to take walks, play with and make visits to the park - she would love that! She'd also like to chill on the couch and snuggle, be petted and has never gotten overly grumpy about much of anything. She loves other dogs of all sizes and always behaves appropriately. Franny is a truly smart pup. She appears to have the silly and very friendly traits of the scruffy Terrier while also carrying the lap-loving, very intelligent and more dignified qualities of the Schnauzer. What a gem of a best friend for a family who wants to include a very cute and sweet dog in their life. Franny has every trait to be a truly exceptional and loyal companion. Like most Schnauzer mixes, Franny either doesn't shed or is a light shedder (we'll know for certain when her sad shelter coat grows out and is replaced by a healthy, lovely coat). Franny will require a commitment to periodic baths/grooming and great nutrition to keep her coat healthy, gorgeous and matt-free. Farfel's is very excited to participate in finding this special and beautiful dog her forever family. Franny will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 12/2/16. If interested in this adorable, sweet, and very fun-loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.     The Tibetan Terrier is not a Terrier; it just sort of looks like one. Tibetan Terriers have unique broad feet with hair between the toes. They are the only breed of dog with this feature. The unusual feet of the Tibetan Terrier act as natural snow shoes. Tibetan Terrier puppies lose their entire coat prior to their adult coat coming in.
