Rescue Me ID: 15-07-29-00083Whitney (female)

Tibetan Terrier Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young puppy. They're so new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great Texas rescuer in saving Whitney. She could see that Whitney's temperament was so kind and engaging that she couldn't allow her to be euthanized. Whitney was immediately on her way to be vetted and then brought to a great Houston foster home to receive pure love and begin her education. It turns out that Whitney , at just 12 weeks old and approximately 12 ... (Read More)lbs..(expected to be approximately 40 lbs when full-grown - such a great size to run with joyfully through the Colorado mountains)... is very loving and so very sweet that it's become a fun and rewarding experience for her foster mom. Whitney is like a blank slate...open and curious about everything around her. She's also incredibly entertaining when she gets going. If she continues her current regimen of socialization that promotes positive relationships with other dogs and bonding with humans...Whitney will become a well-adjusted and pleasant adult companion. Whitney is a gorgeous Standard Schnauzer/Terrier puppy with a shining silver and white coat that speaks of good health. her engaging and lovable demeanor is just who she is...Whitney just appears to be more analytical and intelligent than your average crazy puppy. If Whitney is treated kindly with clear behavioral guidelines, she will become a well-adjusted girl who respects her people as her leaders. This is the kind of family we're searching for for Whitney. We also feel that it's very important that Whitney is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. She would be overjoyed with walking along Colorado paths with her family and enjoying the sunshine. We'd like a family who spends lots of time at home and chooses to include a fuzzy companion in their activities. Whitney can be taught that the car is a fun place that leads to great adventures out in the community and can therefore accompany her family just about anywhere that a wonderful and sweet puppy is allowed. It's difficult to determine at this point if Whitney is a light shedder or a non-shedder. Lots of sudsy baths and serious brushing combined with great nutrition will keep this puppy's coat healthy and cottony-soft and therefore less likely to shed hair. Whitney will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday morning 8/1/15. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Rescue Me ID: 15-06-22-00168Pumpkin (male)

Tibetan Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The Schnauzer/Terrier mix is a perfect combo for those who are searching for an extremely smart and loyal family dog. Both breeds are famous for their great temperaments and loving and snuggly ways. They're known to be exceptional family dogs.. trustworthy and very gentle with their people and other family pets. Since this mix is overjoyed (and therefore has better behavior in every area of life) with lots of exercise...if a long hike, run, or just a neighborhood walk is the order of the day - count them in! These mixes (with their long legs and Terrier enthusiasm) are known to run joyfully and energetically through the Colorado ... (Read More)mountains...and then crash on the couch snuggling close to their favorite humans and canines. Pumpkin is an absolutely adorable and engaging guy who favors the intellect of the Terrier (so happy and energetic) while taking on the very engaging qualities of the Schnauzer. Pumpkin's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...he makes close playmates everywhere he goes. He is social and that means everyone he meets has the potential to become a friend. You know when a loved one approaches, Pumpkin's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through his entire body ending up in a smile. And if a place is available next to a favorite family member, up Pumpkin goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of his devotion. Pumpkin is such a wonderful being...we think he represents the best qualities of his breeds. At about 9 - 12 months old and 17 lbs, Pumpkin seems to have completely left behind the neglect and lack of love that made up his early life. He has become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier his family is with his behavior, the more he shines with his accomplishments. It is for this reason that we think Pumpkin will shine in group obedience class. It will give him the self-esteem and bonding with his family that he's never been given the benefit of. Just a bit of effort goes a very long way in making these dogs pleasant and well-behaved members of a household and community. We would like to see Pumpkin in a home that includes him in family time and activities...he's very social and would thrive in a family that truly loves him and considers him a very important family member. Pumpkin would be a wonderful companion for active retirees or families with dog-crazy kids who have the time and desire to establish behavioral guidelines through positive reinforcement training and time-spend. Pumpkin doesn't require another dog to be happy...but does enjoy his canine relationships with fun and gentle dogs. Pumpkin is being fostered in Denver. Meet and Greets are being set up and applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this sweet, loyal and fun-loving companion, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com. (Less)
