Rescue Me ID: 14-11-26-00040Spencer (male)

Tibetan Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

What a scary world it is out there when you're homeless and hungry...especially when you only weigh 30 pounds and are just 9 - 12 months old. Spencer, a gorgeous (although it's difficult to tell from this sad shelter photo) Schnauzer/Terrier mix (or so the Texas shelter identified him while the vet called Spencer a purebred Schnauzer...we're just not sure) found himself in this situation through no fault of his own. . His plight was the result of irresponsibility and neglect...such a sad statement for the level of care that a human bestowed on this harmless dog. Spencer was the luckiest guy around that day...he was discovered and ... (Read More)rescued from a high-kill shelter by a kind soul who felt compassion when she realized how friendly and loving he was. He was a matted mess on the outside with the cutest stands straight up and the other flops over. ..but nothing but pure and grateful devotion and love on the inside! Spencer's foster brought him home and dedicated herself to caring for him...and reassuring his abandoned psyche that he was safe. After many efforts to find Spencer's family...the decision was made that he deserved a new life in Colorado. He would so love walks down mountain trails...he loves being outside and is capable of being a companion for lots of activities. Spencer is definitely searching for a human friend that he can devote his heart to....and that person will be the recipient of 100% of what this dog has to offer. He's a steadfast companion that takes his relationships seriously. We're searching for an adult home or a home with older children for Spencer...a retired couple or individual who enjoy spending lots of time with a fuzzy guy would be great! It's not that Spencer dislikes kids..we just feel he'd be more secure in the calmer reliability of an adult or home with kids 12+. He also gets along well with other kind dogs but again we feel he could be happy either way..he could get used to being the one and only. Spencer would blossom with the attention and caring touch of a dedicated family. In this supportive environment, Spencer will glow with joy at his incredible luck. He also loves to please...and when he's successful, he struts his stuff with high self-esteem. Spencer is a non-shedding (or maybe a hair or 2) pup and will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his silky coat healthy and matt-free. He is not suggested for those with severe allergy concerns. Spencer will be completely vetted, neutered and vaccinated prior to transport to fulfill our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-adjusted dogs. Spencer will arrive on transport in Boulder on 12/5/14. Rescue Me ID: 14-11-21-00087Bonnie (female)

Tibetan Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Whenever a sweet and kind Schnauzer mix gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that pups of this breed mix are so loving, smart and intuitive. They also fit so well into a family...and make great companions for all age groups. Sometimes rescue dogs are initially a bit shy....but put them in a home with a loving family and frequent socialization...and they will shine. Bonnie is just about 12 - 18 months old (such a great age - young enough to be fun, active and adventurous, yet old enough to understand her adult skills) and weighs 31 lbs. Never let it be said that 31 lbs is too large for a lap dog....Bonnie ... (Read More)will gently warm your lap and express her love. Bonnie's great Texas foster mom sent the following report about sweet Bonnie: I was the lucky one that fostered Bonnie before her journey to Colorado. Let me start off by saying she is an absolute doll! She is such a calm and laid- back cuddle bug! I have 4 English Bulldogs and she did absolutely fine with them. She didn't choose to play because she would rather be with her humans... either curled up on our laps or cuddling on our bed. She does like her toys and didn't care for handing one over to our pushy Bulldog. Bonnie is super, super sweet!! She slept in our bed every night she was with us and had no issues at all. She slept like a log all night! Bonnie doesn't care for being picked up ( at 31 lbs, that's just fine) but loves to snuggle up and lay her beautiful head on your chest. She's made great progress with her house training and just needs a schedule to be perfect. I cried like a baby when I dropped her off this morning but know that she will be in good hands with Farfel's! Bonnie has inherited the superior intelligence of the Schnauzer breed along with the curiosity of the Terrier...she is therefore very open for her family to teach her the wonders of her world. If Bonnie is trained with positive reinforcement, given tons of love, socialization with both humans of all ages and other dogs...she will grow into a self-confident dog who will be a wonderful companion. She has all the elements working in her favor since she's starting out with a great temperament, a love of life and a desire to please. We'd like to place Bonnie in a home with either active retirees or a younger family who loves spending lots of time with a fuzzy and devoted family member. Bonnie will shine for a family who is motivated to take her to group obedience classes and to bring out all the wonderful qualities and loyalty that live inside this incredibly cute Schnauzer mix. Bonnie would love hiking the trails of Colorado (she's the perfect size to enjoy running the mountains), window-shopping on Pearl Street to fine-tune her urban skills and being a very present companion all through the day. With feelings of security within the family, Bonnie will learn the skills of being alone and knowing her family will aways return. Bonnie has a beautiful, non-shedding Benji-like coat. With periodic baths, brushing and great nutrition, she will develop the cottony-soft, shining hair of a healthy, well-cared for coat. Bonnie will be arriving on transport in Denver on Tuesday 11/25. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and devoted best friend and can be found at If interested, please fill out and return to (Less)

The Tibetan Terrier is not a Terrier; it just sort of looks like one. Tibetan Terriers have unique broad feet with hair between the toes. They are the only breed of dog with this feature. The unusual feet of the Tibetan Terrier act as natural snow shoes.
