Tibetan Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young dog. Dolly is the kind of puppy who snuggles in, loves you up and then puts her head on your shoulder. She's so sweet and truly kind with every possibility open to her. That's the case unless a dog like Dolly is in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space or on the streets hiding in the shadows. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great rescuer in Tijuana, Mexico for saving Dolly from abuse and certain euthanasia. She could see that her temperament was so sweet and her need so great that she couldn't turn her back on this very special girl. Dolly was ... (Read More)immediately brought to be vetted, given the appropriate vaccinations, spayed, granted a health certificate and brought to a dog-loving foster to begin her education as a cherished house dog. When we think of rescue, our thoughts don't usually go onto the tough streets of Tijuana. But these forgotten dogs deserve our help every bit as much as their US counterparts. They all have been used for opportunistic either breed and discard or to sell as a puppy to a Mexican mill or rich tourists. Virtually all of them have lived on the streets and survived by learning to be social. They love people because compassionate tourists were their means of survival. They can sit in any language and fit quietly into any scene to earn a treat or discarded meal. This was the life waiting for Dolly ...just 4 months old and 12 lbs (anticipated to be approximately 30-32 lbs when full grown). This is such a perfect size to be able to accompany her family just about anywhere and then fit perfectly onto the couch with her adorable head in your lap. Dolly will always fit right in due to her great temperament. She is already starting to understand that sweet, cuddly and cooperative behavior makes great things happen in life. Dolly was one of the extremely lucky very young dogs to show great promise in her socialization skills at a very early age. The US rescuers couldn't help but fall in love with Dolly! We all had a clear picture of this very sweet and fun-loving girl in a forever Colorado home with a family that cherishes her for life. Dolly's rescue photo is of her homeless in Tijuana..frightened and alone. We're so grateful to all the wonderful Mexican people who participated with so much love in Dolly's rescue. As Dolly becomes comfortable in her home, she will become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier her family is with her behavior, the more she will shine with her accomplishments. We would like to see Dolly in a home that includes her in family time and activities (and of course some lap or couch-time would be perfect!)... and takes that extra step to participate in positive reinforcement obedience classes. These classes take a very smart puppy like Dolly and teaches them the skills to fit into a great family member that can behave appropriately in any situation. Dolly would also be a wonderful companion for active retirees who have the time and desire to train and be best friends with a truly adorable young pup. Dolly would enjoy another gentle dog to play with...she's so sweet and gentle as she puts her positive energy into enjoying the day with a fun friend. Dolly was identified as a Schnauzer/Terrier mix by her Tijuana rescuer. This is difficult to determine with certainty, but we can see both scruffy and very sweet breeds in this beautiful dog. Dolly will have a beautiful golden coat (with the cutest white socks) once she has the gift of good nutrition. Dolly will require a commitment to periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement would be great) to keep her hair cottony-soft and shining. Dolly is arriving on transport in Boulder in late June. Applications are currently being accepted for our very sweet girl with the dark, expressive eyes. If interested in this adorable ...and often very fun and entertaining best friend, please fill out an application at and submit to or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)

Tibetan Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Farfel's Rescue was notified by a compassionate rescuer in Texas that a strikingly beautiful, and sweet as can be, Tibetan Terrier/Cairn Terrier mix was scheduled for euthanasia in just a few days. The rescuer spoke of this 8 month old 15 lb pup as a gift of love. She saw Harry as a wonderful and kind companion for a family with older kids - she was concerned that very young children would intimidate Harry if they treated him roughly. She also described him as a great friend to gentle canines...he would enjoy the playing, long walks together and hanging out at day's end. We took a look at Harry's sweet, yet frightened face staring out ... (Read More)of the shelter photo (it spoke of difficult times)... and heard the reports of Harry's carefully wagging tail that spoke of a huge desire to trust and bond. We accepted Harry immediately into our rescue. He was removed from the shelter, vetted (perfectly healthy), temperament-tested (passed with flying colors) and brought to a nurturing family who will reinforce Harry's house skills and socialization while he waits for his transport to a new life in Colorado. We've committed to finding Harry a committed and very loving family who will enjoy him for his devotion, sweetness and desire to please. Once Harry becomes comfortable in his surroundings, he is a friend that will make you laugh at his silly antics and want to hold him tight just because he's so incredibly cute! We would love to see Harry in a home where he becomes a true member of the family. Retirees or individuals who work out of the house would be perfect for this sweet young guy. Harry tends to be a calm pup at this point who loves to settle into his person's lap and stay put with an occasional lick and a wag of delight at his good fortune. Harry would love long walks outdoors in the sunshine and is portable enough to bring along on every dog-friendly adventure. Harry appears to be a non-shedding pup (we know that under the listless shelter hair..there's a gorgeous coat just waiting to grow). He will therefore require periodic baths/grooming and great nutrition to keep his beautiful coat silky and matt-free. Harry will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 6/10/16. If interested in this sweet dog who is full of love and personality, please fill out an application at and submit to or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)
